Mixed carts & eligibility
Mixed Carts & Eligibility
A mixed cart is when the customer’s order includes products with different fulfillment rules (e.g., some for pickup, some only for shipping).
Alpaca lets you control:
- Whether to show pickup/delivery if any item is eligible (flexible), or only if all items are eligible (strict).
- This can be configured separately for pickup and delivery under their settings.
How it works for customers:
- If their cart doesn’t qualify for a method (e.g., one item can’t be picked up), Alpaca can:
- Hide that method at checkout, or
- Prompt them to remove ineligible items, if you enable this option.
Best practices:
- Use “All eligible” to prevent customers from choosing fulfillment methods you can’t support for the entire order.
- Use “Any eligible” if you want to offer maximum flexibility (but may need to manage split orders).
Troubleshooting:
- If customers can’t pick a method, check:
- Product-level eligibility in Alpaca
- Your rate visibility rules
- Cart contents (look for ineligible items)
